self-care

Ideally, I would be 15kgs lighter, have a regular exercise routine, maintain a healthy diet, practice music more often, sleep well, explore activities and places and of course…be friends with self-care. Hold up. What is self-care? And what happens when motivation lingers and we continue to dream that something is going to happen first, and then, self-care conquers? Honestly, I really have no idea!

In my experience I have observed that when something is wrong, checks on self-care are mandatory. The deduction being that self-care leads to things going right. So, when motivation is low and going for a run, eating salad, writing a symphony, or simply having a shower is not fuelled with energy. Is it to be assumed that bad things will happen? I can’t help but present, lack of motivation may lead to a human considering themselves to have something wrong with them. Why would we willingly want bad things to happen? Great discussion point.

So, here’s an idea. Although not revolutionary. As we nurture the self in terms of esteem, motivation could very well grow out of positive and energetic molecular explosions geared towards self-love.

While exercise, healthy diet and things alike will evidentially affect mood, perhaps we could also consider the role of human support, kindness, acceptance, choice, autonomy and love.
